Ezekiel Jay is a San Diego singer/songwriter taking contemporary indie rock and infusing it with echoes of classic soul. Originally from Northern California, Ezekiel is a dynamic performer whose live performance has been described as having "great energy and passion."
2016 marks the release of Ezekiel's second album, Emotional Charge. Produced by Ben Moore (Pinback, Switchfoot), the album features some of San Diego's best musicians, including a 3-piece horn section arranged by Andy Geib (Slightly Stoopid).
Ezekiel’s sound has developed from the straightforward Americana rock of his first album, Activity, into a more heavily arranged and layered pop sound on Emotional Charge, ranging from the indie-disco track, Moved, to the string arrangement on You Are Not A Child.
For live shows, his core trio includes Michael Reedy on drums and David Stone on bass, with additional players guesting as necessary. Ezekiel sometimes borrows his bandmates in SDMA-nominated DNT, for which he handles lead guitar duties.
